Getting Around Denver

Public Transportation

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) skyRide makes hourly runs to/from Denver International Airport and to/from 18 free park-n-rides around the city. Fares are $7, $9, or $11, depending on location, and drivers assist with luggage. All RTD services, maps, routes, park-n-rides, and fares are detailed on the RTD website.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available and provide service to the Denver metro area and surrounding counties. The flat-rate charge (one-way fare, airport access fee already included) for downtown Denver is $55.57; rides to Boulder are $88.57. Taxis pick-up and drop-off from level 5 of the main terminal at DIA.

Light Rail

The new Denver airport rail (A Line) serves DIA to downtown Denver for $9 each way. It has six stops and takes approx. 37 minutes to get downtown. From Union Station, travelers can access local and regional transportation services, such as light rail, regional and local buses, Amtrak rail service, taxis, and the free 16th Street Mall Shuttle (MallRide) and free downtown MetroRide buses. Tickets can be purchased on rail line platforms at ticket vending machines. 3:15–4:15 a.m.: every 30 minutes

4:15 a.m.–6:30 p.m.: every 15 minutes

6:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m. (1 a.m. Fri/Sat): every 30 minutes

*Last train leaves Denver International Airport at 1:26 a.m. (1:56 a.m. Fri/Sat)

16th Street Shuttle

This free hybrid bus runs up and down the 16-block tree-lined retail core of downtown Denver. Hop on at any intersection on 16th Street between Civic Center Station at Broadway near the Colorado State Capitol (200 E. Colfax Ave.)  and Union Station on the west end. Short walks from the mall get you to the Denver Performing Arts Complex (950 13th St.) Colorado Convention Center (700 14th St.) Larimer Square (Larimer St. between 14th and 15th Sts.)  Coors Field (2001 Blake St.) and LoDo (lower downtown). You can also access Light Rail and make connections for buses throughout the metro area and to Boulder, Golden, Longmont, and Denver International Airport.

Please note: If you are a citizen of one of the 38 countries who are part of the visa-free entry program, you may still be required to obtain a visa to enter the U.S. if:

  1. You hold dual citizenship with Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria; or
  2. Have visited any of these countries on or after March 2011.

Getting to and from Denver 

Denver is served by Denver International Airport (DEN).  Denver International Airport is the 15th busiest airport in the world and the fifth-busiest airport in the United States. 

Need a ride? Super Shuttle is offering GSA attendees discounts for transfers to and from the airport. For downtown Denver hotels, the rate will be $25.00 one way, and $40.00 round trip, per person. Amtrak

Amtrak arrives at Union Station daily via the California Zephyr enroute to and from Glenwood Springs, Salt Lake City, Reno, San Francisco, Omaha, and Chicago. The California Zephyr is among the most scenic train routes in the United States. Connecting Amtrak thruway bus service is also provided for Amtrak’s Southwest Chief for rail service to Los Angeles, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Albuquerque. For more information, call +1-800-USA-RAIL. Union Station is about 1.3 miles from the convention center.

Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Denver, CO between the above dates.  Includes travel up to three days prior to the convention start date and three days following the last day of the meeting. To book your reservation call Amtrak at 1 (800) 872-7245 or contact your local travel agent. Please refer to Convention Fare Code X76B-952 when making your reservation a 10% discount has been approved. Conventions cannot be booked via Internet. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela service. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges.
